Finding Purpose

A Journey from Pain to Peace

A Journey from Pain to Peace

Welcome to my first blog post as a first-time author. I hope you join me in finding purpose in a life of peace, love, and serenity.  I believe everyone is seeking that in their own personal struggles.

What is the purpose of life? Growing up in a large family, the word “purpose” never crossed my mind. Yet dreams did. My dream was to get married young and have eight children, like my parents. Decades later, that dream never came true - God had other intentions. At first, my journey was one of pain and suffering. After my mom died in 1992, I was searching for that meaning of life and seeking for that love and acceptance. I was a bartender, then a Catholic nun, and then back again. When I thought I “got it,” the next moment, suffering was at my door. Yet I kept persevering.

In March 2013, when I found my fiance dead from the disease of alcoholism, my life, my heart, and my dreams were shattered. I came to a point where I believed that my purpose was to suffer, simply exist, and live an unhappy life. Yet, at that same time, it became a pivotal moment. I was unaware that light came into darkness, and God - a higher power - intervened.  Something greater than me carried me to a place of healing, love, and recovery - both through a twelve-step program as well as  God himself.  Trust me, it did not happen overnight. It took time - one day at a time - to be opened to God  (a higher power) to help me to embrace my pain and feelings and taught me a new way of life.

As I kept shaking the dust off my feet and walked throughout my life, I have found my purpose of love and peace. I can share my personal journey to help those in search of theirs. We each have different paths, personal struggles, and beliefs. Yet we all seek that exact purpose in life, having peace and love within our hearts no matter our surroundings.

I encourage you to read my memoir (launching 8-1-24), Shake the Dust Off Your Feet and Walk, to bring hope and love into your life and to share with others. I pray that you will know it is possible to find and live your purpose with joy, peace, and serenity. Together, let us shake the dust off our feet and walk.

With a Grateful Heart,

Gina
